No Man's Sky By Oliver Staley

 No Man's Sky

Elite had the world over it was the first big adventure set in space and it was converted to all major formats at the time, trading materials to other planets, dog fights with other craft and visiting over 200 planets that was in the 8 bit days and now space exploration takes on a similar system to the former Elite, we have No Man's Sky where you get to visit random planets from a choice of absolutely millions you arrive at a planet and gather materials and find shelters with blueprints to upgrade your equipment then your back in space finding another planet to explore. There are two campaigns in the game one been the path of the atlas and the other been the center of the universe, I've completed the former with great ease, I think deep down No Man's Sky is a chill out game where you do everything in your own pace, there is no set goal it just wants you to keep going and enjoy the experience for yourself, fair enough if you can look at it like that but when I first played I was a bit confused as to what I was actually supposed to be doing, great idea and lovely environments, you could play it like buying the most expensive ship or finding the most powerful gun in the game and set your own goals with trading offices around the universe, it's like been given something you can do the hell you like with, but don't play if you want a story based campaign full of action and adventure what No Man's Sky is presenting to you is a endless universe with multiple planets and building and such to go out and explore, why not set your own goals and do as you will with a really cool game that isn't a story from start to finish it's open to you for what ever you choose, cool game.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain By Oliver Staley

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

When PS1 gave us our first MGS outing it was so cool to be able to be Snake in 32 bit, and along with MGS2 on PS2 and Snake Eater, the Metal Gear experience was always in a set environment with stealth playing the major part of the game, now with MGSV has completely been shifted over to a massive open-world game and yeah stealth is still a big part of completing a mission without alerting every solider and getting your self shot to bits I think realism is the key to games been such a success like MGS and Hideo has done a fine job with recreating a middle east world with camps and watch towers, the tranquilizer gun has never been so useful to a game 70% of the time I was knocking out soldiers and getting my prisoner out and know body even noticed, the whole feel graphically is wonderful and huge merit to the graphics team, there's a feeling to MGSV that makes you want to play again and again some games have that pull on you it's how you make a technically brilliant game, the further you get into MGSV the more you realize how enormous the game is the second part been set in Africa to change things up but story telling and level (mission) design of Hideo's caliber is a blueprint to how other software houses should look at design when they want the perfect balance in game design, this game will go down in history along with GTA Red Dead Redemption and any other triple A open-world game that's pulled off the job, excellent in every manner.

Dark Souls III By Oliver Staley

                            Dark Souls III

Dark Soul's a game I played many years ago and thought nothing of it until I realized it was trial and error was the idea behind the game losing only made you go back and max out your stats and try until you'd beaten whatever group of enemies or boss was pissing you off then when you do beat that section that stalled you for an hour you never felt such release and you could go on with your adventure it was the first game that made you try and try again but it's a formula that sold From Software to the world of Dark Souls and then there was a sequel that was just as great as its former but with slightly jagged graphics but the games design was still enough to make it a great game, and here we are with PS4 and XBO technology and we can take on a even better version with high end graphics and gameplay, the formula remains the same all the gameplay is familiar territory but at a higher standard in this day and age, boss battles are excellent and enemies remain a pain in the arse, and the environments are a marvel to look at time needs to be taken with each Dark Souls game because of the heavy lore behind each title and nothings changed here, if you look on YouTube you get videos telling you about why a convent came to be or what the story is for characters you meet on your journey are about, the controls are perfectly balanced and weapons come in there masses your gonna need to gain a lot of strength stats to wield some of the bigger types and grinding for souls can take along time when your strength stat requires 24 and your only at 14, Dark Souls III is a fans every wish for the perfect experience in this era of gaming,
